Youth Access & Support Service

Youth Access & Support Service (YASS)

Supporting family relationships and assisting young people to remain and sustain their education, training and/or employment opportunities.

Interested?

YASS supports young people aged 12 to 21 years, and their families, who are at risk of disengaging from education or training, family and or community and aims to provide an early intervention framework that will bridge the gap to stop young people falling into statutory systems.
The YASS program includes two service types:
  1. Access Services (information, advice and referral) – Services that assist service users with low support needs to make informed decisions about, or be connected to, the services and supports they need.
  2. Support Services – Collaborative young person-centred case management with practical and well-planned support, to help young people with medium to high needs achieve their goals.

Our Vision, Mission & Values

Our Vision

A Gold Coast city where young people are hopeful about their future valued and supported to realise their full potential.

Our Mission

To be a leading non-profit organisation that supports homeless and disadvantaged young people on the Gold Coast, making long lasting and positive changes through:

  • Information and support
  • housing and tenancy support
  • emergency assistance
Our Values

Social justice is about young people receiving a ‘fair go’ at the opportunities in life. It is about recognising that we are all different and respecting the inclusion and tolerance of all.

The aim of the Gold Coast Youth Service is that young people’s rights are recognised, and that they are consulted in appropriate and meaningful ways and have the opportunity to participate in decision-making that affects their lives.

Emergency Relief Program

Have you been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic?

GCYS may be able to help.

The Emergency Relief program provides financial and/or material support to meet the immediate need of people in financial crises. The program is open to all age groups.

With the current outbreak of the COVID- 19 the GCYS will continue to provide services however, we are asking people to make safe choices and to help stop the possible transmission of COVID -19.

Therefore we are asking people not to come into the service and to call us instead where possible.

Current health advice includes social distancing (1.5 metres) and good hygiene practices including regular hand washing with soap. If you need soap we have popped some into our Street Library for easy access – a good book is there too, if you are thinking of staying home.
